Wanting more architectural variety in his new city, Coral Gables founder George Merrick built seven exotically themed villages scattered throughout the Gables' Riviera Section. These villages were in Chinese, Dutch South African, French Normandy, Florida Pioneer/Colonial, French Country, French City, and Italian styles. The houses were designed by a variety of architects including notables such as Marion Sims Wyeth and Henry Killam Murphy. We're exploring each village over the course of this month, with photography by Silvia Ros. First up, the Chinese Village, designed by Henry Killam Murphy.
