While Hurricane Sandy drowns the New York Subway System, we're still feeling her effects down here, in both good and bad ways. For one thing, Sandy's partially responsible for the absolutely gorgeous, cool, crisp, clear weather we're having, by pulling air down from the Tennessee Valley. On the other hand, the 10 foot storm-swells off Florida, combined with the tidal effect of the full moon, has meant lots of flooding in low-lying beachside areas. Sure, the flooding is nothing compared to what's happening up north, but it is a tad annoying. [Miami Herald]
