All About Lin Arison

She may be one of the most important, and relatively least known, cultural forces in Miami, but Lin Arison is a powerhouse. She, her late husband Ted, their determination to nurture the arts, and yes, their money (estimated at more than $5 billion before Ted's death in 1999), are why Miami is the cultural hothouse it is today. That passionate determination, and that money, was what built Frank Gehry's new home for the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, and is the driving force behind the new Gehry-designed YoungArts campus in Miami. She may deny it, but this is Lin Arison's town, baby. [Miami Herald]
