"The elevated ['All Aboard Florida' Train Station] site plan is better. It allows more flexibility of design and better utilization of the limited acreage for the site. All existing through streets could remain open for better traffic flow. There are no buildings over the platform so fumes from diesel locos can be carried off by the wind instead of being trapped under the overbuild (not a problem for European stations that use electric trains). It allows for more street-level retail options directly underneath the platforms, thus improving the sites usefulness as a multi-use shopping destination, office park, etc... in case the rail line doesn't attract as much traffic as projected." -anon.
