The starchitect-soaked Miami Beach Convention Center redevelopment competition has heated up again, now that those pesky implications of corruption have been satisfyingly squashed. The leading team is now, according to exMiami, developers Colombo and Portman, and bad-boy architect du jour Bjarke Ingels. Second in the running, despite his much lauded 1111 only a few blocks away, is developer Robert Wennett, and Pritzker Prize winning architect Rem Koolhaas. As for Zaha Hadid, despite showing up in the flesh on a previous occasion to support her bid, she seems not to be doing so hot on this one.
