A 2004 redevelopment concept for downtown Fort Lauderdale which centered around an intermodal transit hub on the old FEC tracks and a monumental urban entrance on Broward Boulevard might come back to life now that the plan's designers, Zyscovich Architects, are working for the railway to develop its new stations. Various options included new government buildings, residential, offices, retail, more green space and park land, and a central transit hub. The scheme culminated in a large oval plaza and entrance to downtown on Broward Blvd.
