The latest dining and nightlife dish from Eater Miami...
EATER AWARDS 2012— Today is the last day after a week of voting in the five major categories for this year's Eater Awards 2012. The polls close tomorrow at 10am for the last category: Miami's Stone Cold Stunner. This category highlights the restaurants with the best design aesthetics from head to toe- dining room to menu to uniform.
FALL TRACKING— TV personality and BFF to Kim Kardashian, Jonathan Cheban is opening his first restaurant in Miami. Just in time for Basel, Cheban will open a Miami outpost of New York's Sushi MiKasa at the Shelborne on South Beach with the famous Chef Kevin at the helm of the kitchen.
THE SHUTTER— It was a sad day on Tuesday as news broke that Kris Wessel's first restaurant Red Light Little River has shut its doors for good. Wessel didn't have a choice when he wanted to renew his lease with the new owners of the motel, but they upped the price so high it was out of reach. Hopefully his void can be filled at the soon-to-open Florida Cookery.
OPENINGS— Quite a few spots have opened new locations. In Brickell, 100 Montaditos has opened another outpost and launched a new menu. La Baguette is now on South Beach, and DRB is in the heart of Downtown.
