This Blob Is Vito Acconci's Crazy Design District Playground

New, 3 comments

This is Design Miami 2012 Designer of the Year Vito Acconci's contribution to Miami's architectural future, the Klein-Bottle Playground. This model was on display last week during Art Basel. It's more than just a big blob. It's a big blob that basically models a physically impossible mathematical trick, basically a double-mobius strip in 3D. And it's a playground that's going in the Design District. It's safe to assume technical drawings haven't been produced yet since this thing is basically just molded wax hanging on fishing line right now, and the exact location in the Design District remains a mystery, but the actual playground is planned to be permanently installed by 2014.
