"Just to clarify - each of the 3 homes were of architectural significance, in spite of their" current state. The Villa May property has already been discussed. The other two properties were designed by Aldrich & Parker, and Russell T. Pancoast -- two premiere architects of Miami Beach in the 1920s and 1930s. This is much more than a "barrel tile roof" issue. These were significant structures that were left to rot so that their only value would be in the land they stood on. I am not against progress, however I think we need to do more with the zoning code to encourage the proper maintenance of historic homes which demonstrate the unique history of the original Miami Beach pioneers." -dgc223 [Villa May's Replacement Is An Overgrown Replacement Of Villa May]
