Piero Lissoni Has Old King Cole's Big Shoes To Fill

New, 1 comment

Italian architect and designer Piero Lissoni (in association with local design firm ADD Inc.) has a new hotel and residential project in the works at a rather unique spot in Miami Beach, on the edge of Surprise Lake. It was formerly the Miami Heart Institute, and before that the Mediterranean Revival King Cole Hotel built by Miami Beach developer Carl Fisher. Although the King Cole is long gone, here are ten pictures from the Florida State Archive's Florida Memory Project of the grand old place in all its original, exotically mediterranean glory.
