The trees slated for removal in downtown Coconut Grove will, after all, be removed. The original plan, part of the Grove BID's streetscape renovations, to ax a number of diseased trees, some of which turned out to be perfectly healthy, was fought by local residents because the area's lush tree coverage, and remnants of the old growth Florida hammock, are central to Coconut Grove's identity.
