A five-month internal study of Miami's sewers has shown they are crumbling, rupturing, polluting, and failing to a massive degree. To repair only the "most deteriorated, vulnerable sections" (basically, the worst of the worst) will cost over $1 billion, with significantly more work needed beyond that. Basically, if something isn't done now, our sewers will literally be a giant shitshow. [Miami Herald]
