Think tunnels are a bad idea for Miami, with our high water table? Well, 'Harriet' the tunnel boring machine, has got a bone to pick with you, right after she pops out of the ground tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. on Dodge Island. She will have gone a distance of about 4,200 feet, and a depth of 120 feet under Government Cut, completing the first of two parallel tunnels to PortMiami. Next, she'll turn right around and bore the other. The whole project is supposed to be finished in 2014. [SFBJ]
