Artist Addonis Parker is restoring "Everyday Life," a classic outdoor work by the great 'urban expressionist' artist Pervis Young which covers the walls of the Overtown/Culmer Library in Gibson Park, wedged up in the crook of I-95 and I-395. Young first painted it in 1984, and repainted it in 1991. In an interview with the Miami New Times, waxes poetically on Young's talents, Young's brushstrokes (he's studied the artist's work extensively) and on his own honor for being chosen to perform the restoration. And so far the results look pretty good. A series of images of the process are at the New Times' site.
