Brickell Getting Stores For Normal People, Trader Joe's?!?!

New, 2 comments

Cabi Developers, who recently regained control of a site in Brickell they had originally intended for development in the last boom, are playing it safe and planning a sensible, rather boring, retail project called Capital Brickell Place for the site. It's pedestrian oriented, and conforms to Miami 21, so that's nice, but there's also extra parking just in case, you know, gas is ever cheap again. It's boxy, with an inoffensive, typically mall-ish design, and the rendering is in colored pencil, so they must have gotten a bargain price on an architect. And it'll have sensible moderately priced stores, including a big box or two, that downtown residents still have to schlepp across town to find. Cabi claims to be in talks with Costco, Target, and... drumroll please... Trader Joe's. Yes, according to SFBJ, they are in talks with Trader Joe's. Talks!

While nobody's signed a lease yet (that we know of), this is still huge news. Miami's first Trader Joe's could be coming. It's not just wishful thinking, but a bonafide possibility. Yay!
