The new Miami Art Museum, which due to the power of money is being renamed the Perez Art Museum Miami, is rising steadily on the shores of Biscayne Bay. The museum sent us a few recent construction shots of their monumental new building by Swiss superstar architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron, which is looking pretty good. What we're seeing right now, a blockish, hulking mass of 70s-inspired brutalist concrete forms in the middle of the future Museum Park, is still the innards of the museum to some extent. The huge overhead awning, with dramatic louvers, deep sunshades, and scattered columns, has yet to appear.
