Misael Soto's Giant Picnic Blanket Plays With Public Space

Artist Misael Soto, he of giant terrycloth towels that spontaneously turn the beach into more of a public square than it already is, has a thing for using giant textile products to create public space. This time, he's rolling out a homemade 60x60 foot picnic blanket in Bayfront Park and inviting everyone for a nosh. The whole point of the blanket is to "subvert the way park-goers claim their temporary real estate." Sounds great to us. Check out some pics of the blanket's creation above, and this Saturday come for a lazy picnic day with new friends, old friends, and a ton of Miami's young, creative, urbane, sexy types. Oh, and bring food. We'll be there and we love food.
