Hey Daaarling, It's Art Deco Weekend

One of the great things about Miami is its architecture. Miami is an architectural city. The recent influx of starchitecture that has made some ask whether Miami is America's next great architectural city is only the last chapter in a 100+ year history of really spectacular architecture, from Mediterranean revival palazzos and villas, to art deco dreams, to the drama of the midcentury modern. But if there's any style Miami is really known for, it's Art Deco, named after the phenomenally influential 1925 exposition internationale des arts decoratifs et industriels modernes in Paris, that so predominates South Beach. This weekend, celebrate the beauty of your city at the Miami Design Preservation League's annual Art Deco Weekend on Ocean Drive. It's a little touristy, but it's about what has always made Miami great, Art Deco.
