The first in a series of public meetings related to the Miami Beach Convention Center redevelopment plans happened last night with a packed house of concerned citizens, NIMBYs, and neighbors eager to voice their opinions about possibly the biggest development project that Miami Beach has ever seen. SFBJ has a recap. At the meeting, Mayor Bower spoke yet again of her desire to incorporate plans for the proposed light rail system into the Convention Center's design, while other attendees worried about the scale of the final product being compatible with neighboring areas and expressed the importance of incorporating existing green spaces like the Miami Beach Botanical Garden into the project.
