Once the Miami Science Museum decamps for its new Museum Park home, sources say their land - originally part James Deering's Vizcaya estate - is being returned to Vizcaya. Around the turn of the century, Deering constructed a farm on the land that was as picturesque as it was impractical as a working farm. Sure, it produced things like vegetables and herbs for the kitchens, but the farm was more of a model farm and a place for Deering to show off his company's farm equipment than a practical place to grow things. No word yet on what Vizcaya Museum & Gardens plans to do with the place, but maybe they'll bring all of that back.
