Novelists List $14.5M Mansion; $1B Nouvel Tower Is A Go

All the latest real estate gossip from Curbed NY...

1) Park Slope: Novelist Jonathan Safran Foer and his novelist wife, Nicole Krauss, listed their gigantic limestone mansion in Brooklyn for a whopping $14.5 million. The 16-room home was built for Woolworth heirs, and it has a beautiful third-floor conservatory.

2) Midtown: Starchitect Jean Nouvel's planned tower on West 53rd Street has been hanging in limbo for the last few years, but a $1 billion cash infusion has put it on the path to construction. The 1,050-foot-tall building will hold 145 condos, plus three floors of gallery space for the Museum of Modern Art.

3) Bedford-Stuyvesant: The Brooklyn neighborhood known as Bed-Stuy was once one of the city's most notorious and dangerous areas, but gentrification has put those days long in the past. A big sign of change? A Swedish supermodel is moving to the 'hood?and paying more than a million bucks to do so.

4) Midtown East: It's not every day you find a place with silk carpeting, but this Sutton Place triplex comb has just that. The sprawling home also has cashmere electric drapes, white Venetian plastering, and a backyard with ivy-covered walls.
