The southbound lane of Alton Road, Miami Beach's main drag, will be closed for the next 10 months while FDOT works on repairing drainage systems. Traffic will be diverted from frequently flooded Alton to also waterlogged West Avenue, which gurgles every High Tide and has buildings lined with sandbags. The entire $32 million Alton Road improvement project will conclude sometime in 2015. [Miami Herald]
