The luxury rental market has skyrocketed in South Florida's priciest enclaves. Brokers are complaining that it's impossible to find their clients a spacious enough pad in South Beach, La Gorce, Fisher or the Venetians Island for $6,000 a month or less that meets the living standards…ahem…to which their high-roller renters are accustomed. On Fisher Island, a source says "a two-bedroom with a den" goes for about $6,000 a month. The frenzy in the luxury market is spreading up the coast, according to our survey of upper-upper-end properties on Trulia.
You know that rather sleepy stretch of Collins Ave. with the place with the wonderful café con leche and the old-man tennis, the quiet North Shore? Well, around the corner, a 40th-story three-bedroom pied-à-terre is asking $6,500 a month. And of course with Art Basel only a heartbeat away, Bayshore, a a cavernous mid rise in Sunset Harbour, is asking a cool $7,500. Who knows? Maybe that's just what access to that amazing-looking, T-shaped pool during Art Basel costs.
