The new 'Faena Collaboratory' (a.k.a. the Faena House Sales Center, and yes, there was an older one) just opened across Collins Avenue from the construction site of the Norman Foster-designed luxury condo tower. According to the press release, "amongst its many functions, including a creative think-tank and large-scale public art installations, the Faena Collaboratory will also serve as an innovative sales environment for Faena House." We've got a think tank here, people. A think tank. It's the Cato Institute with an architect's drafting board. So, basically the sales center is meant to feature the long list of the design 'collaborators' on the Faena project: Foster, Raymond Jungles, Rem Koolhaas, etc.
Anywho, the new 18 story building will have 47 one-to-five bedroom units, all with fabulously huge wrap around balconies called 'aleros' and a two-level penthouse with its own rooftop infinity pool and private internal elevator. Prices range from $2.5 million, to $50 million, meaning that penthouse is selling for a whopping $50 million. The building, which will be completed in the fall of 2014, will have a fitness center with ocean views, separate men's and women's spas, a lounge, a children's playroom, a pool, and an "attended residential beach club" and "gardens with both common areas and more intimate spaces".
