Coral Way will not lose 50% of its extensive tree canopy for the time being, as FDOT backs down to furious neighbors who were against a plan to remove six banyan and 61 black olive trees. They will, however, continue butchering trimming the trees to allow clearance for tall trucks. Apparently, they've been going at the poor things for the last week, and have already reduced at least three of the banyans to "dumb little lollipops that no longer span outside of the median."
