Collins Avenue's Wacky Walgreens Breaks Ground

New, 2 comments

The nutty developers Seth Gadinsky and Daniel Hotte who built those two wacky Walgreens drug stores (are they just building drug stores, or on drugs too?) have broken ground on their third possibly drug laced drug store extravaganza (hey, who are we to judge?), another Walgreens on Collins Avenue and 14th Street. The design team is the same too, namely Robert Brown and Frank Demandt. Taking inspiration from the nautical themes of neighboring art deco hotels by greats like L. Murray Dixon and Henry Hohauser, and the midcentury-meets-PoMo fantasias of some of Miami's more inspired 80s architecture, the store is psychedelic. It's also scheduled to be open by this summer. More renderings here.
