That highly visible big bunker of a building with giant white balls on top in downtown Miami surrounded by blocks of parking lots (they will eventually become the Miami Worldcenter, but are now just lots) is one of the most important data centers in the world, according to the BBC. It's the Network Access Point of the Americas, NAP for short, and it handles most of Latin America's internet traffic. So, umm, that's a major plus for Miami's economy. [BBC]
