Will Sun Life Stadium + Giant Awning Really Make It Cooler?

New, 2 comments

As the Sun Life Stadium debate continues towards a vote, a Curbed Reader (Sean's dad actually) has a question: How much of a benefit will the giant awning really have? The Miami Dolphins say this new feature will protect viewers from the elements while keeping the field natural grass instead of the alternative, astroturf. Will it, however, make the stadium - which wasn't originally designed with South Florida's balmy climate in mind and is therefore a total sauna sometimes - any more cool and comfortable to watch a game in? Where is the side opening to funnel in breezes like at the original Orange Bowl and the new Marlins Park? Where is the full-sized retractable roof? Where is the air-conditioning? Will it actually be more comfortable?
