Miami-Dade Commissioners are thisclose to issuing a $4.2 billion bond to tackle the quickly deteriorating state of the county's sewer system which has gotten so bad that areas like Coconut Grove are currently on a new-sewer-hookup moratorium, according to an article in the print edition of today's Miami Today. (no new sewer hookups = no new construction, folks). Unfortunately, the $4.2 billion won't cover everything needed, just the more necessary stuff, and the debt servicing will result in the county paying a total of about $9 billion in the next thirty years, nearly double the borrowing. So, that's rather shitty, but the alternative - letting the city wallow in its shit - is even shittier. Shit.
