This Relic Of Old South Beach Is Becoming The 'Gale Suites At The Kaskades'

This dumpy apartment building, unrestored relic of old, pre-glamazonia South Beach on James Avenue and 17th Street is becoming the Gale Suites at the Kaskades, Menin Hotels' latest expansion of the Gale South Beach hotel across the street. Said Gale co-owner Jared Galbut months ago when Curbed was taking a sunset cruise on his yacht "we love James Avenue." They also own the Sanctuary Hotel, a block up James, and of course the Gale, which is on James too. And the Kaskades, under years of muck, and bad paintjobs, and dirt, and blegh, does have some architectural swagger. Meanwhile, there isn't a rendering to be had, and the hotelbabble doesn't reveal much design-wise:

In Spring 2014, Menin Hotels will unveil a new extension of Gale South Beach & Regent Hotel: Gale Suites at Kaskades, located at 1680 James Ave. The all-suite boutique hotel will feature 27 certified green rooms complete with oversized terraces and Jacuzzi tubs, luxury Italian linens, marble bath appointments, rainforest showers with automated steamers exclusive Menin Hotels GuyandGirl bath amenities, a 60" high-definition LED television with expanded 90 channel HD lineup on the latest IBAHN system, ihome docking station for the latest iPad technology, fully-stocked minibar, high-speed wireless Internet access, room service, rooftop deck with cabanas and nightly turn-down service. · Gale South Beach coverage [Curbed Miami]
