As of last night's Miami Beach Commission meeting (the same meeting in which Rem was picked to design the Convention Center) Mayor Matti's six month demolition moratorium of historic and architecturally significant single family houses has begun. As always, the mundane details are a little more complicated than that, and there are a few more bureaucratic hurdles for the thing to jump through, but it is effective immediately, except for houses which have already been approved for demo (like 42 Star Island Drive) and even houses in which demo applications have merely been submitted (like Kobi Karp's house). Neither of those two groups are covered by the moratorium.
