BREAKING NOW: Rem Koolhaas/South Beach ACE Won The Miami Beach Convention Center Competition

New, 24 comments

Rem Koolhaas will be designing the new Miami Beach Convention Center. Just moments ago, the Miami Beach City Commission picked the South Beach ACE team, which includes architect Rem Koolhaas, landscape architect Raymond Jungles, megadeveloper Dan Tishman, and uber cool local 'indie' developer Robert Wennett, to execute their plans for the redevelopment of the Miami Beach Convention Center. They will be executing the so called 'scaled down' version of their plans recommended by City Manager Jimmy Morales which, although technically smaller in scope than what was originally planned, is still a massive project and a mighty undertaking that is likely to be completely transformative for the City of Miami Beach. One thing that remains unclear, however, is just how much residential will be incorporated into the project. See Curbed Miami archives for full coverage up to this point. And welcome to the Future.
