arango, Miami's brilliant mother hen of modern design that brought furniture, housewares, industrial design, and other judiciously selected modern objects to the Miami wilds 55 years ago, is closing on Saturday. arango will vacate its longtime Dadeland Mall space, which the store has called home for 50 years (after spending its first five in Downtown Miami) due to "an unsustainable rent increase. The landmark design emporium (think of it as the Miami Moss) has no immediate plans for a new location beyond the company's current warehouse in the Bird Road Arts District, where the store's owners will ponder their next move. In memory of the Miami institution, stay tuned to our special coverage later this week.
