Walmart Wars

New, 5 comments

Walmart has officially closed on the planned site of its controversial 200,000 square foot Midtown SuperCenter. The $8.2 million sales price, however, comes with strings attached. Seller DDR, which owns The Shops at Midtown, has the right to buy the property back; Walmart has to turn over about 15,000 square feet to Midtown Opportunities for developing liner retail; and Walmart has to maintain the Supercenter's facade in accordance with DDR specifications. All those, plus community activists continuing to battle the project in court await the retail behemoth. [exMiami; Previous]
