SkyRise Miami, the swoopy, wave-shaped thing planned for Bayside may apparently be paid for with public dollars, requiring a property tax hike as well. Mayor Gimenez wants to tap into a $3 billion whatchamacallit that voters approved in a 2004 ballot initiative that basically authorized the county government to borrow a heck load of money for projects (many private) for the community good. The debt would then be serviced by raising property taxes. Oh, and Miami Wilds, the theme park (someday, don't hold your breath) that's going next to Zoo Miami, will get a significantly larger hunk o' cash. Your tax dolla's at work, yo.
