This is What Morris Lapidus' Historic Biltmore Terrace Hotel Would Look Like Restored

New, 2 comments

While historic preservationists get in high gear trying to save the historic Biltmore Terrace Hotel, designed by Morris Lapidus and Albert Anis, and developer Terra Group tries to wow everyone over with a replacement designed by starchitect Renzo Piano, the question remains as to how much of the Biltmore Terrace's original fabulousness is left to save. According to Atelier & Co., which was commissioned to create a conceptual design for "restoring and improving upon" the hotel last year, there's quite a lot. "With much of the existing [midcentury modern] details intact, buried under several renovations much of the charm and nostalgia could easily return to this incredible hotel" say the designers.
