The W Hotel brand is one that is synonymous with slick, urban cool. And, given this, it's only natural that they would propose that another one of their Aloft hotels should perch upon the cityscape.
Aloft is already present in Miami Beach, Brickell, Midtown, and Coral Gables. This new location, designed by Behar Font Partners, would live between Doral and Miami International Airport.
The SFBJ reports that 7220 NW 36th Street Investments, a company owned by Tobin T. Cobb and Justin Kennedy, submitted a proposal to build a six-story, 125-room Aloft hotel. The plan would also include 9,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space in two neighboring buildings. A pool and 300 or so parking spaces would complete the coup.
The 4.9-acre site, which currently has a 1973 74,963 s.f. office building, originally sold for $5.8 million in June.
It's located just east of the Palmetto Expressway...and east of a county jail.
