Vizcaya, designed from the beginning to be richly layered in its own fables and fantasy, at least partially gets its name from explorer Sebastian Vizcaino, whom Vizcaya's builders imagined to have tooled around Biscayne Bay in a Spanish galleon in some romantic historical world. The story is told by two statues, in the estate's front driveway. [Partridge Table; Previous Vizcaya coverage]
