How About an East-West Metrorail Line on Existing CSX Tracks?

New, 2 comments

The Miami-Dade MPO (that's short for Metropolitan Planning Organization) is studying the seemingly fantastically logical idea of putting an east-west rail line on the CSX railroad tracks that currently skirt the southern boundary of Miami International Airport, connecting the eastern and western parts of the county, according to Miami Today. The tracks already connect to the brand new Miami Intermodal Center transportation hub on the eastern side of the airport, and could easily connect Doral and possibly even Florida International University to the rest of the County's fledgling (but growing!) rail network. No word yet on whether it would be Metrorail, Tri-Rail, or something else, but Metrorail does (also) seem very logical.
