And The Convention Center Will Look Like This Inside...

Behind the wavy metal fins of its exterior, the interiors of the Miami Beach Convention Center are of course getting a revamp too, (updates can be found on the city's website) including a giant vortex-shaped media screen in the grand lobby and a starry-night ceiling effect in the ballroom and rooftop (fourth floor) function space. Additional LED walls and ceilings in the lobby can be programmed to fit the mood of whatever convention is occupying the hall at the moment.

Things are also moving along for the convention center hotel, planned for the lot behind the Fillmore Jackie Gleason next door. Of various shapes considered, the city's "preferred" massing is one in which there is a tall but slender tower recessed into the center of the site, away from the streets. The ground lease for the 800 room hotel will be decided by voters in November.
