Dania Casino & Jai Alai Reborn As Mainly A Casino

New, 1 comment

After a nip here and a tuck there, the 50-year-old Dania Casino & Jai Alai is back in business, with an emphasis on the casino side of operations. Jai alai no longer draws the legions of old men it used to, so most of the fronton's seating has been gutted to make room for slot machines. Seating for 10,000 spectators of jai alai has been reduced to four rows with space for 130 people. The halls where dozens of television sets once broadcast horse races around the U.S. are also now filled with slot machines. For those who would rather not gamble alongside the plebes, there is a private poker room. Argentine "casinos czar" Cristóbal López led a group of foreign investors in the $85 million acquisition and makeover.
