Chabad Russian Center Concedes To A High-Rise Neighbor

After worrying a high-rise condo could overshadow glorious Russia the new Sunny Isles Russian Jewish Center next door, Chabad Russian Center Rabbi Alexander Kaller has given the condo's developers, Avra Jain and partners, his blessing. Jain approached the city of Sunny Isles Beach about buying the site last year. The city had planned to use the site to build a park, but agreed to sell it to Jain to develop a 20 to 29-story condo tower if she could work out a deal with the rabbi, who insisted the condo not block the Jewish Center's ocean views. Jain told Curbed Miami the condo's design architect, Carlos Zapata, shared plans and renderings with the Chabad Russian Center's architect, Jaime Schapiro, before the rabbi agreed to support the project.

The five-story condo-adjacent religious center will house a synagogue, ritual bath, preschool, wedding hall, library and rooftop restaurant, and is scheduled to break ground this summer. На здоровье!
