Check Out This Big, White $37M Maurice Fatio Replacement

New, 5 comments

The replacement for that rather unusual manorial red brick Maurice Fatio-designed house at 5446 North Bay Road that faced the wrecking ball a few years ago has finally hit the market. Sure, it's got a $37 Million price tag, 13,000 square feet of living space, amenities up the wazoo, floor-to-ceiling hurricane glass windows perfect for throwing a hurricane party, etc., etc., but does the design, by architects Choeff+Levy, look just a little bit familiar?

It looks like this place, and this place. Oh, and it bears more than a passing resemblance to A-Rod's old place, it looks kinda like this place, a wee bit like Art Basel's El Decor Show House, and maybe like Lil' Wayne's place. It has serious similarities with Chris Bosch's place, also on North Bay Road. Oh, and architect Kobi Karp is building himself one too. Oh, and 3 Indian Creek looks (just?) a little like it. If one didn't know better, one might think this undoubtedly one-of-a-kind palace looks a lot like every other house built in Miami Beach in the last ten years. But who are we to judge?
