A $1.5 billion megaproject called Metropica that is slated to move in next to Sawgrass Mills is back from the dead. With 2,300 units and "enough retail space to hold 11 Walmarts" Metropica (extremely bland rendering, to the right) will be a "cornerstone of Broward County's new western downtown." (ha!) But don't expect any towers. They're keeping heights low. "Plantation residents... don't want another eyesore like [the neighboring] Tao", which is apparently 26 harrowing stories of total ugliness.
