One of the five original houses in Coral Gables' Dutch South African theme village has hit the market for the first time in 75 years, asking $2.175 million, and absolutely dripping in architectural details straight out of a wealthy South African Dutchman's farmhouse. The house and its village, of course, were built by Coral Gables developer George Merrick and designed by architect Marion Sims Wyeth along with six other village to promote architectural variety in Merrick's new city. The fairly small house comes with five bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths split between a main house and a guest house in the rear, divided by a rather modern looking pool that must have been a later addition.
