Collins Avenue's Nautilus Hotel, one of the first hotels (if not the first) that Morris Lapidus collaborated on in Miami Beach, is reopening at the end of the year. After years operating as the lower-end 'Continental Oceanfront' hotel, it will be a luxury hotel again, and have its original 'Nautilus' name back.
The hotel's look will include "nautical touches and materials, including gray concrete, stones, and linen" which sounds a bit sedate for a Lapidus creation, but then again, the "unpretentious beach vibe" wasn't exactly his thing either.
