The FAA has finally approved a rent for the future Schlitterbahn Water Park in Riviera Beach, to be located on land owned by the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, meaning the long delayed park finally has the go-ahead. It will be located on the site of the former Fort Lauderdale Stadium, and the current Lockhart Stadium where the Fort Lauderdale Strikers soccer team plays.
Twice the size of Rapids Water Park, the Schlitterbahn will have a few unique features like water used as transportation (we're picturing lazy rivers on steroids) with conveyer belts, etc. and deluxe "Treehouse Suites" around the perimeter of the resort. The resort won't be finished until 2017.
