Daniel Pena-Giraldi, the guy behind the historic Langford Hotel conversion (the former Miami National Bank Building), has purchased the nearby Old U.S. Post Office in a deal set to close today. The seller was Scott Robins. 102 years old, the building was first a post office and courthouse, then a bank, a Walgreens, then practically abandoned and decrepit. The elaborate beaux arts post office has gotten much love lately as the new home of the Miami Center for Architecture and Design. That only takes up a portion of the first and second floors however, leaving Pena lots more room, including an interesting attic-space on the top level, to have fun with.
