South Miami Dade Busway Could Become Lexus Lanes

New, 1 comment

The South Miami-Dade Busway, a dedicated Bus Rapid Transit corridor that is meant as a placeholder for Metrorail expansion, could become a limited access tollway for those wishing to pay to circumvent US-1 traffic. This means cars could have more access to what used to be exclusively the province of mass transit, but it also means overpasses would be constructed at intersections at which buses are now required to stop, and the buses would continue to have exclusive lanes going in either direction. Of course this still isn't Metrorail, but at least according to Miami Today "There have been plans to expand the Metrorail south, so any configuration MDX and its consultants pick must leave room for such expansion in the future, documents show."
