Currently under construction just north of the uber-intersection of Broward Boulevard and Federal Highway, the architecturally foxy (by Fort Lauderdale standards) office building 105 North Federal has a planned opening for this winter. Adache Group Architects designed the 36,216-square-foot contemporary building with large angled glass features. Wood and metal paneling covers the exterior bringing different textures along with the glass. The prominent geometrical lines provide a new visual element that's not seen around the gradually urbanizing area, where things are decidedly more... subdued.
Across the street sits the Waverly at Las Olas, an apartment rental complex that's beige and tan and lacks any, well, artistic personality. But 105 North Federal takes residence on the south side of the up-and-coming Flagler Village, Lauderdale's hip and pedestrian-centric enclave, and it is just a block from the massive 721-unit new rental property, Henry Square (opens this summer.)—Andrea Richard
